Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Golf Game Buddy ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Golf Game Buddy mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

Round & Score Data: Course selections, scores, game types, and Junk bet results you enter while using the App.
Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your name and email address.
Camera: With your permission, the App accesses your camera to capture scorecards and course photos.
Photo Library: With your permission, the App accesses your photo library so you can attach images to rounds and your profile.
Contacts: With your permission, the App accesses your contacts' names so you can quickly add friends as golf buddies. Contact names you select are used to prefill a friend entry on your device; we do not upload or store your full contact list.
Location: With your permission, the App accesses your device's location while the App is in use, to show golf courses near you.
Device & Usage Data: Basic technical information such as device type, operating system, and app usage analytics to help us improve the App.

Camera, Photo Library, Contacts, and Location access are optional. You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device's Settings; if you deny or revoke a permission, related features (such as attaching photos or finding nearby courses) may not work.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and maintain the App's core features, including scorecards, game calculations, and round history.
Improve app performance, features, and reliability.
Respond to support requests sent to support@golfgamebuddy.com.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties for their marketing or other purposes. We may share limited information with service providers who help us operate the App, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform those services. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law.

We use Supabase as our backend service provider to host our database and manage account authentication. Your account information and round data are stored on Supabase's servers on our behalf, under their own security and privacy practices. Supabase does not use your data for its own purposes.

4. Data Retention

Round and score data is stored only on your own device for as long as the App remains installed — we do not store it on our servers. Account information (profile, friends, friend requests) is retained on our servers for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and its data at any time directly in the App via Profile > Delete Account — see Section 5 below for full details.

5. Data Deletion

Golf Game Buddy lets you permanently delete your account and its data at any time, directly in the App:

Open Golf Game Buddy and sign in.
Go to Profile.
Tap Delete Account near the bottom of the page.
Confirm by tapping Yes on the warning dialog.

This takes effect immediately and cannot be undone — once confirmed, the account can no longer be signed into.

What gets deleted immediately: your profile (name, email, avatar), your friends list, all sent and received friend requests, and your login credentials are permanently removed from our servers, with no grace period.

What isn't affected: your round history, scores, and game results are stored only locally on your own device, never on our servers — so they aren't part of this deletion. Uninstalling the App removes them completely.

Backups: we don't keep a separate copy of deleted data ourselves. Our infrastructure provider may retain routine backups for a short period as standard disaster-recovery practice, after which they are automatically purged.

If you no longer have access to the app or need help, contact us at support@golfgamebuddy.com and we will delete your account and data within 30 days of a verified request.

6. Your Choices

You can delete your account at any time directly in the App via Profile > Delete Account (see Section 5 above). You can also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing support@golfgamebuddy.com.

7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights over your personal information — for example, under the GDPR (Europe/UK) or the CCPA (California). In plain terms, you can ask us to:

Show you what we have — a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Fix it — correct anything that's wrong or out of date.
Delete it — remove your personal information. The fastest way is Profile > Delete Account in the App.
Send it to you — a portable copy of your data you can take elsewhere.
Stop using it — object to certain uses, or withdraw consent you've previously given.

We don't sell or share your personal information with third parties for money or advertising, so there's no "opt out of sale" needed — but you still have that right. We also won't treat you any differently for asking about or using any of these rights.

To use any of these rights, just email support@golfgamebuddy.com — we'll respond within the time required by law (typically within 45 days for California residents). We honor these rights for all our users, wherever you live, not just in Europe or California. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page with an updated revision date.
